Record Year for Experiencias Xcaret
Experiencias Xcaret, the Riviera-Maya based operator of adventure and theme parks Xcaret, Xel-ha, Xplor and the tour operator Xichen Tours, said that in 2012 it received more than 2.3 million visitors.
Ileana Rodriguez, Xcaret's Director of Public Relations and Communications, said that the company experienced 14-15% growth for the year, outperforming the Cancun-Riviera Maya region, which saw a 10-11% increase in arrivals.
Rodriguez said that the company invested 330 million pesos (about $26 million USD) in promotion and infrastructure. This year, they expect to invest $314 million pesos (about $25 million USD), a sum which will the company predicts will drive twice as many arrivals in 2013.
The group is launching a new tour called Cenotes, and in 2014 they are planning to open a fourth park. Rodriguez said that markets such as Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Russia are expected to drive future growth.
