Mexico Markets Open Strong for 2013

Mexico's financial markets are off to a strong start for 2013. The country's bellwether IPC stock index closed at 44,626 on October 6,  a record level. Mexican stocks have rallied on core strength in the Mexican economy, 


Mexico is also perceived as a strong credit by the bond markets. The country reopened its 30-year bond issue, paying record low yields for the maturity. The country sold $1.5 billion USD of 2044 bonds at 4.19%, 110 basis points over comparable Treasury bonds. The issue was hotly demanded by investors, oversubscribed by two times the amount issued.
