Mexican beach destination Cancun is considering the construction of a rail system that would run between that city and Tulum, at the far end of the Riviera Maya coast. The rail line would connect the principal destinations in the Cancun-Riviera Maya region.

The line would provide an efficient and greener way for tourists as well as local residents and workers to transit the 75 miles between the two points.
The state government of Quintana Roo has hired the Spanish firm Ferrocarriles de Vía Estrecha (Feve) to conduct a feasibility study.
