A three-and-a-half hour drive from Mexico City, San Miguel de Allende, in the state of Guanajuato, is a lovely colonial city that enjoys spring-like weather year round. Its charming cobblestone streets, romantic plazas and street musicians draw visitors quickly into the town´s rich cultural life. There are theaters, art schools, cooking classes, writing workshops, libraries and museums. Unlike many small cities in Mexico, visitors will hear as much English as Spanish in downtown San Miguel, due to a large resident community of Americans and Canadians.
This picturesque town has a number of unique venues for events. The Senderos, a 208-acre facility 1.8 miles from downtown San Miguel de Allende, offers outdoor and indoor event and meeting spaces for 240 to 1,750 guests complete with catering services. Fifteen minutes from the center of town is the Hacienda Puerto de Nieto, with 16 colonial guestrooms and two cabins. The Hacienda has a patio for events of up to 400 people, and 8 additional meeting spaces.
San Miguel de Allende has a large number of boutique hotels with apartments and suites, including Hotel del Portal, with 10 luxury suites with private patios.
