Pachuca, Hidalgo

Located in central Mexico, the state of Hidalgo enjoys a temperate climate, beautiful geography and parks, and several sites of historical significance. The state is named after Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, leader of the Mexican War of Independence.

In the 19th century, Hidalgo was one of the centers of the Mexican mining industry. Hundreds of immigrants from Cornwall in England came to work the mines. The area is still home to many of their descendants. Today, the state´s economy is based on agriculture and industry.

The state’s capital, Pachuca, is, at its center, a colonial town with beautiful baroque architecture. It is famous for its soccer team, which was first established by the Cornish miners in 1900. Hidalgo has a number of Pueblos Magicos (Magical Towns), including Real del Monte, an old mining town where visitors can visit the mine-museum, Mina de Acosta. In the town of Huasca de Ocampo, visitors will find the grand estates of the former mine owners. Many of these, like the Hacienda of San Miguel and the Hacienda of Santa Maria Regla, have been converted into hotels and are perfect for small events or incentive groups.

Pachuca has a number of event spaces: the Convention Center Tuzoforum, located in the Ben Gurion Cultural Park has 8 meeting halls that can hold 20 to 2,000 people. Pachuca also has up to a dozen hotels perfect for all kinds of events, such as the Crowne Plaza with 106 guestrooms and suites and 14,000 square feet of event spaces divided into 3 rooms. Pachuca’s Fiesta Inn has 114 guestrooms and suites, and 4 meeting rooms, the largest measuring 11,136 square feet.

Pachuca’s national airport has direct flights to Mexico City.
